The movie starts with Kendra and Kevin, a doctor, who are married for a long time. Soon, Kendra's best friend, Terry, makes an entry.

During a photography event at Calumet River Hotel, she meets Ben, who says he missed her. Listening to him, Kendra gets furious and warns him not to say that again.
Later, we see Kendra receiving news of her father's passing through a phone call, and she breaks down. However, her husband decides not to attend her father's funeral as well.
Ben comes to meet her at her house and reveals he and his partner, Connie, are separated now.
